Distort One - Versatile Distorter

A collaborative effort between Dead Air and Enduring Audio, Distort One starts with the orange distortion pedal we all love (or hate, or maybe a bit of both!) and adds multiple ways to shape the EQ and distortion effect.

Starting with the Mid Voice control you can go from a mid forward tone at lower settings to an aggressive scoop at higher settings. If you’re looking for something close to the original you’ll want to have this control set fairly high. The next major update is the addition of LED clipping. The original circuit utilized silicon diodes which yield a highly compressed and crunchy distortion. The SI-LED control allows you to transition from silicon diode clipping to LED clipping which offers higher output, less compression and thicker distortion. As you turn this control up (clockwise) you’ll transition from crunchy, high compression distortion to a thicker, lower compression distortion with additional output. Last is the High Cut control which allows further tailoring of high frequency response. This is a cut control so set to minimum for the brightest setting. This control adjusts high frequencies differently than the tone control so experimenting with both controls will give you maximum control over high frequency response.

The original crunchy “can of angry bees” distortion is still in there but so is a fuller, lower compression distortion and pretty much everything in between.

Gain: Controls the level of distortion

Tone: Tone control, increasing brightness when turned up

Level: Output Volume

Mid Voice: Adjusts the mid range from a mid forward tone at minimum to a rather extreme scoop at maximum. This control will affect output volume.

Si-LED: Transitions from silicon diode clipping to LED clipping as the control is turned up (clockwise). This control will affect output volume.

High Cut: Allows for cutting high end with the brightest setting at minimum. This can be quite interactive with the tone control so experiment with the two.

Power: 9V DC, 2.1 mm center negative barrel. Current draw is <10 mA.
